Maheen Sultan

Maheen Sultan is a Visiting Fellow and the Head of the Gender Studies Cluster and the Coordinator of the Centre for Gender and Social Transformation (CGST) at BRAC Institute of Governance and Development, BRAC University. She is currently working in areas related to women’s leadership and organising; local governance; gender norms and masculinities; women’s employment and care work. She is a development practitioner, activist and researcher with over 30 years’ experience working for NGOs, donors, the UN, Grameen Bank and the Bangladeshi government in a range of capacities, from direct programme management to policy formulation; and more than 10 years’ experience in the field of research, communications and advocacy. Maheen has a License in Sociology from the University of Geneva and has several postgraduate diplomas in development studies and gender and development. She is also the Chair of the ADB External Forum on Gender and Development.
